What is the Humanities Fest?

A Celebration

The Humanities Fest at East Central College is a celebration of language, literature, and the arts. Students from local high schools are invited to meet professors of the humanities and participate in a wide range of creative activities and contests.

Featured Speaker

Dr. Agnes Vojta
​Agnes Vojta grew up in Germany and now lives in Rolla, Missouri where she teaches physics at Missouri S&T and hikes the Ozarks. She is the author of Porous Land and The Eden of Perhaps, and her third collection A Coracle for Dreams is forthcoming in the spring of 2022 from Spartan Press. Her poems have appeared in a variety of magazines; you can read some of her work on her website agnesvojta.com.

  • Video sessions for creative writing, extemporaneous speaking, philosophy and ethics, and Spanish.
  • Trophies and prizes will be awarded to contest winners in their respective categories.
  • Academic and career video session will offer students information about studying and careers in the fields of English, journalism, film, foreign language, and mass media.
